Group 3 Social Services include…

  • Establishments primarily engaged in providing temporary living facilities for individuals with personal or social problems.
  • Child or wife abuse centers Halfway homes for delinquents and offenders.
  • Halfway or self-help group homes for persons with social or personal problems.
  • Homes for destitute men and women.
  • Juvenile correctional homes Settlement houses
  • Social service centers, e.g. Salvation Army, etc.
  • Training schools for delinquents.
Homeless Shelters...
  • Do not provide a permanent home.
  • Are NOT used to house families who have lost their home due to fire, flood, or other disaster.
  • Do not allow homeless Fathers caring for their children to sleep overnight in the shelter.
  • Do not provide a permanent home.  Any person who wants to stay must wait in line each night to see if they are able to stay and then must leave in the morning.
Group Homes...
  • Provide a managed solution for people who are homeless.
  • Provide a responsible party to manage the home members.
  • Provide structured rehabilitation for their occupants.
  • Provide a place to call "home"... a place to leave their clothes, pillow, toothbrush, etc.
  • Promote responsibility among its occupants.
